Make a sketch every day. I was never a “natural talent” in art class. But I think that I can learn to draw. I started with Lisa Congdon’s class at Creativebug Inc. Funny. But when you break everything down into lines – it suddenly feels so much easier.
I have no idea where those first drawing are – which is really quite sad because it’s a great illustration of how terrible I was – but also a gauge of how much progress I’ve made.

Re-doing Lisa Congdon’s sketch class at CreativeBug
Better, it would be a marker of how much progress I’ll continue to make. I’m going over the class again now. This time armed with a bit more confidence that I can be taught.
In the meantime, three others have taken out their own sketchbooks and their supplies and have started to join me again at the kitchen table. Which I love.
The kids and I sat through Congdon’s class a year ago. But now I’ve got one moving on to paint beautiful landscapes, another hoping to hone himself on sketching birds, and the youngest sketching endless iterations of batman.
