Because seriously, who doesn’t like to imbibe?
I went ahead and committed myself to the spookiest level: Peril the First.
Sounds scarey, no? It’s not, really. I’m going to read four books – of any length – between September 1, and October 31 that fit into the following list.
Mystery.
Suspense.
Thriller.
Dark Fantasy.
Gothic.
Horror.
Supernatural.
Seeing as how it’s September 7, you’ll notice I’m late to the party. But folks, that’s not gonna scare me away. I’m not daunted!
Plus, I already had planned to post a review tomorrow of a book containing “ghosts” or something similar. So I’m already 25% done! See how that works? People! You must set yourself up for success!
(No. I didn’t cheat. I started the book September 2, and it was a quick read.)
Anyway. The books I plan to read. And since it’s the season, and in typical INTJ fashion, I may wind up adding a few to the list as the season progresses.
Without further ado, and in no particular order:
If I Stay – Read it and reviewed it.
Ghost Ship (Paula Wiseman Books) – This book was a little disappointing.
Where Are the Children? – Update! I read it and reviewed it.
The Presence: A Ghost Story – I am a total wuss. This book freaked me out.
Update! I accidentally added another book to the pile! Time for Andrew: A Ghost Story. I reviewed the book here.
Okay, so one’s a picture book and maybe it’s cheating. But I’ve got a few review copies I need to get to. Also, I plan to pick up a few classically scarey tales to frighten my children with, but I’m not sure I have it in me to wax poetical about Poe or Irving. Can I write a review that says, they’re great – read ’em? I didn’t think so.
Also, if you are interested, the Estella Society is having a read along of The Haunting of Hill House.
You can sign up for that here. I did!
Update: Fail! I didn’t get around to reading this book in time for the read along.
