We were in a little consignment shop the other day when the 6 year old spotted a marshmallow gun. It was handmade of PVC and sold for $10.
He had the money, but I said no. (yes, even though its their money i have final say on what they buy)
I told him I would pay for the supplies, and we would make our own.
A trip to the big box home improvement store and $5.00 later we had enough fittings for 2 guns, and plenty of PVC leftover for 2 or 3 more besides.
We made this.
We used these plans.
He made the shopping list. He measured the pipe (with a bit of help). Daddy cut the pipe. And the two boys assembled their respective guns.
Today a target was made.
(If you turn your target upside down, the three’s aren’t backwards any more)
And little bits of something or other were foraged off of a backyard tree and stuck into the marshmallows.

The pointy things look nasty, but its really the sticky marshmallow that leaves its mark on the target.
**Warning: these are outside toys – unless you have the time and inclination to wipe off myriads of little white sticky dots off of your doors, baseboards, walls, furniture, etc.
